Lydian Pay Comes to iPhone and iPad

Lydian Pay Comes to iPhone and iPad

The built-in crypto checkout

Lydian Pay is now on the iOS App Store, giving iPhone and iPad owners a way to accept digital asset payments in person and be paid in local currency.

Lydian has released Lydian Pay on the App Store. Merchants can now download the app to an iPhone or iPad and start taking payments from customers who hold digital assets. Settlement reaches the merchant’s bank account in local currency.

The iOS release follows the arrival of Lydian Pay on Google Play on September 30. Lydian Pay is the same app on both platforms, with the same merchant account behind it, so a business running a mix of Apple and Android devices works from one set of records.

Merchants in eligible markets can download Lydian Pay on the App Store.

Taking a payment

A sale runs the same way it would at a card terminal, with a simple and quick interface.

  1. The merchant keys the amount into Lydian Pay.

  2. The app displays a payment QR code for the customer.

  3. The customer pays from the digital asset wallet they already use, whether that is the Lydian Wallet or another popular wallet.

  4. The merchant sees the payment on screen once the network confirms it, and a receipt is available for the customer.

Nothing has to be typed into a separate device and no card is handed over.

Why the iPhone and iPad matter here

Most small businesses already have Apple devices in hand. An iPad by the till, an iPhone in the owner's pocket, another going out on deliveries. Staff know how to use them, so there is no training to schedule and no new piece of equipment to learn.

That changes what the decision is. Accepting digital assets stops being a hardware question and becomes something a business can simply try, at the cost of a download. The upside is a straightforward one: more ways for customers to pay, and an edge over the shop down the road that still takes cash and cards only.

What a merchant gets

Local currency in the bank account. The customer pays in digital assets. The merchant is settled in local currency, into the account they already use for the business.

A payment that is final. Once the network confirms a payment, it is settled. There are no chargebacks to contest weeks after a sale.

Refunds on the merchant's own terms. Businesses keep the refund policy they already publish. Accepting digital assets does not add steps for the customer or the counter staff.

One account across the shop. Several devices can sit under a single merchant account, each operated by a different member of staff. Every payment lands in the Lydian Merchant Portal, where it can be reconciled and handed to a bookkeeper.

Customers who could not pay before. Visitors from abroad and digital asset holders can pay directly, without a currency exchange at the counter and without a card that may be declined.

A till that travels. The same account works behind a counter, at a market stall, on a delivery round and at a customer's premises.

Assets, security and availability

Lydian Pay accepts a variety of assets like USDT, USDC, BTC, ETH, and TRX, across Ethereum, Tron, Polygon, Solana, Arbitrum, Base, Bitcoin, and more. Each merchant decides which wallets, assets and networks to accept, and can change that at any point. The current list is published at lydian.com.

Lydian does not take custody of merchant funds. Access to the app is protected by the device's own authentication and by verification on the merchant's Lydian account.

Getting started means opening a Lydian merchant account and completing business verification. Approved merchants can take a payment the same day. Eligibility depends on where the business is registered and is confirmed before verification finishes.

From the team

"Two weeks ago a merchant needed an Android device to use Lydian Pay. Now it runs on whatever is already behind the counter," said Carl Grimstad, CEO at Lydian. "That was always the point. We are not asking a business to change how it operates to serve a customer who wants to pay with digital assets. We are asking them to download an app."
