Lydian Pay Launches on Google Play

Lydian Pay Launches on Google Play

Turn any Android phone into a crypto checkout

A new lightweight point-of-sale app lets small businesses accept digital asset payments in person, with no extra hardware.

Lydian today announced that Lydian Pay, its point-of-sale app for merchants, is now available on Google Play. The app turns an Android phone or tablet into a payment terminal. Businesses can take crypto payments face to face and receive local currency in their bank accounts.

Lydian Pay is built for small business owners who want to accept digital assets without buying or renting a card terminal. It is available now to merchants in eligible markets. Download Lydian Pay on Google Play.

How a payment works

A sale takes four steps, and the customer can pay directly from their digital wallet.

  1. The merchant enters the sale amount in the app.

  2. Lydian Pay shows a payment QR code.

  3. The customer scans it and pays from the digital asset wallet they already use. This can be the Lydian Wallet, or most popular digital wallets in use.

  4. Once the network confirms the payment, it appears on the merchant’s screen and a receipt is available for the customer.

Built for small businesses

Lydian Pay removes the cost and complexity that usually come with adding a new payment method.

  • No hardware. The phone or tablet a business already owns becomes the terminal. There is nothing to buy, rent or replace.

  • Paid in local currency. Customers pay in crypto, and the merchant receives local currency in their bank account.

  • No chargebacks. A confirmed payment is final, so a completed sale stays completed.

  • Existing refund terms. Merchants keep their current refund policies, with no extra steps because crypto is involved.

  • Sell anywhere. Lydian Pay works at a fixed shop, a pop-up, a delivery or a customer visit.

  • Built for teams. Merchants can add staff devices to one account. Every payment is logged in the Lydian Merchant Portal for simple reconciliation and bookkeeping.

  • New customers. International visitors and digital asset holders can pay directly, without currency conversion at the till or the risk of a declined card.

Android powers a large share of the phones and tablets small businesses already carry. Launching on Google Play means many merchants can start accepting digital assets with a device already in their pocket.

Assets, security and availability

Lydian Pay supports major digital assets, including USDT, USDC, BTC, ETH and TRX. It works across major blockchains, including Ethereum, Tron, Polygon, Solana, Arbitrum, Base and Bitcoin. Merchants choose which wallets, assets and networks they accept. The full list is at lydian.com.

Lydian never takes custody of merchant funds. Account access is protected by device-level authentication and verification on the merchant's Lydian account.

To get started, merchants create a Lydian merchant account and complete business verification. Once approved, they can take their first payment straight away. Eligibility depends on where a business is registered and is confirmed before verification is complete.

From the team

"Small businesses shouldn't need new hardware or a complicated setup to serve customers who want to pay with digital assets," said Carl Grimstad, CEO at Lydian. "With Lydian Pay on Android, a shop owner can take a crypto payment on the phone they already use and get paid in local currency. We're starting with the merchants who have the most to gain from a simpler way to accept new customers."
